ISO 45001:2018OHSMS
ISO 45001:2018 specifies the requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system and provides guidance for its implementation to enable organizations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by aggressively enhancing OH&S performance and preventing work-related injury and illness.
ISO 45001:2018 applies to any organization that wants to improve occupational health and safety, remove hazards, and reduce OH&S risks by establishing, implementing, and maintaining an OH&S management system(including system deficiencies), taking advantage of OH&S possibilities and rectifying nonconformities in the OH&S management system linked with its activities.
ISO 45001:2018 enables an organization’s OH&S management system to achieve its intended outcomes.
The following are the expected outcomes of an OH&S management system, as defined by the organization’s OH&S policy:
- Continual improvement of OH&S performance;
- Fulfillment of legal requirements and other requirements;
- Achievement of OH&S objectives
ISO 45001:2018 applies to all businesses, regardless of their size, nature, or operations. It is applicable to the OH&S risks under the organization’s control, taking into account factors such as the organization’s operating environment, as well as the demands and expectations of its employees and other stakeholders.
ISO 45001:2018 does not specify particular performance requirements for OH&S, nor does it prescribe how an OH&S management system should be designed. ISO 45001:2018, through its OH&S management system, enables a business to, other areas of health and safety, such as worker wellness / wellbeing, into the mix.
Beyond the risks to workers and other relevant interested parties, ISO 45001:2018 does not cover issues such as product safety, property damage, or environmental implications.
ISO 45001:2018 can be utilized in its entirety or in part to improve workplace health and safety management. Claims of conformance to this document, on the other hand, are not valid unless all of its requirements are incorporated into an organization’s OH&S management system and met without exception.
